Cottonwood Municipal Airport to temporarily close for runway maintenance

COTTONWOOD, AZ – The Cottonwood Municipal Airport will be temporarily closed to all fixed-wing air traffic and vehicular ground traffic from Wednesday, June 12 through Friday, June 20, weather permitting. This closure is necessary to complete pavement maintenance to the airport’s runway.

During this time, contractors will be performing pavement maintenance including resurfacing and crack sealing, to ensure the continued safety and functionality of the airport.

A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued and clearly marked lighted X’s will be placed on the runway to signal the closure.

We appreciate the public’s patience as we complete these maintenance actions.  These maintenance actions are part of a statewide Airport Pavement Management System (APMS) supported by the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).

For those who are interested in learning more about the project, the public is invited to attend the next Coffee with Council event on June 12 from 9-11 a.m. at Queen B Vinyl Cafe (102 E. Pima Street). Council members and city staff will be available to discuss the airport pavement project in a casual, relaxed setting.

For questions or inquiries, please contact Rodney Propst, Airport Manager, at rpropst@cottonwoodaz.gov or 928-340-2722.
