NOTICE OF PROPOSED CODE CHANGE AND FEE INCREASE COMING JULY 2024
The City of Cottonwood is currently reviewing building permit applications under the 2018 International Building and Fire Codes, which were adopted on July 1, 2019. The Community Development Department proposes adopting the 2024 International Building Codes (IBC), a substantial step forward in ensuring the safety, sustainability, and resilience of buildings and structures within a jurisdiction. The International Building Code is a model building code developed by the International Code Council (ICC) that provides minimum requirements to safeguard the public health, safety, and general welfare of occupants and the community. With the adoption of the 2024 International Building Codes, a fee increase is requested following the International Code Council Building Safety Journal Valuation Data August 2018 along with the updated Community Development Fee Schedule.
